CMA Police Application

Similar to the appendix for military application, we have been working on the police application of CMA sports shooting. Several of our instructors and members, who are themselves members of police forces, have contributed to the new appendix B2.

The new appendix is very similar to the military version B1. The obvious differences are the categories. A lot more differences lie in the referenced police regulations, of course.

CMA Police Application

The described deviations and exceptions allow the participants to practice and apply their individual shooting skills in a sporting environment with objective scores and rankings.

Objectives

The objectives of the new appendix include

  • Boost safe handling and effective shooting skills with pistol and rifle

  • Foster focused practice of personal weapon handling and shooting skills

  • Provide an objective method to assess and develop individual skills

  • Allow to apply relevant police shooting regulations and use standard duty equipment

  • Provide a platform for competitions that motivate participants to enhance their abilities and train their mental and physical fitness

  • Minimize potentially negative impacts such as for example acquiring "specialized" behaviors for sports shooting that are not desired in duty situations

The great possibilities and minimal restrictions for stage design of CMA can of course be applied and enable truly challenging, motivating and fun exercises.

Limitations

The CMA police application has a purely sporting focus measuring the performance of an individual shooter using a pistol or a pistol and a rifle combined in a given exercise or stage. A lot of aspects of police training and duty such as, for example, tactical contexts or working in a team, are not contained. Those need to be addressed separately.

Outlook

We invite members of police forces to put the appendix into practice and give us feedback. It would be great to see police forces running CMA competitions and give their members the opportunity to develop their performance and have fun at the same time.

In the near future, we will work on a proposal to the founder team to change the current Duty category and allow police duty belts and corresponding equipment such as holsters to be used in normal competitions without having to wear full uniform. Stay tuned for further updates!

For the founders team with best regards

Andy
